Women are still not making it to the top of any profession anywhere in the world! I feel like there is need to tell women that they do matter. In my talk I would like to mention the role models for young girls who are making now the choices that will matter in few years.
Since I do my stage at the DG Justice at Directorate D .1 Equality treatment legislation, I would like to elaborate a bit about the question: where are we in 2012 in terms of gender diversity at the top corporations and why are we underrepresented as leaders in the top?
I would like to tell some personal stories about my role model, why I am such a strong believer in women and how I chose my career path.
My recent interview with Commissioner Reding encouraged me to speak up. When I asked for an advice how to proceed in life she replied: “You know you are good; tell the outside world you are good. You know you can do it; you will do it!”. Therefore if my little symbolic talk can inspire one girl somewhere sitting at home in front of her computer and watching one of the TED talks, that would fulfill my happiness of preparing this and even motivate me to do more :-)
What is your favourite TED talk and why?
Very hard to choose one however just recently I watched this one: Isabel Allende “tells tales of passion”.It simply gives me inspiration and appreciation to our everyday life.
